NAMMCO SC Working Group on Assessment in Copenhagen 9-11 March 2010
The Working Group on Assessment is now scheduled to meet in March to deal with minke whales around Iceland, North Atlantic fin whales and West Greenland humpback whales. NOTE THAT THE DATES OF THIS MEETING HAVE CHANGED from the original scheduled dates 26-28 January.
NAMMCO 19th Annual Meeting of Council - 31 August - 2 September 2010
The 19th Council meeting of NAMMCO is scheduled for 31 August - 2 September in Torshavn, Faroe Islands.
NAMMCO Scientific Committee plenary meeting Norway 19-22 April 2010
The NAMMCO Scientific Committee's 17th plenary meeting will be hosted by Norway in the period 19-22 April 2010. The location is Longyearbyen on Svalbard.NAMMCO SC Working Group on Marine Mammals and Fisheries Interactions in Copenhagen 13-14 March 2010
Core scientists belonging to the NAMMCO SC Working Group on Marine Mammals and Fisheries Interactions will meet to compile proposals and budgets for a coordinated project. The first phase of the work would involve fitting different models to the available data and comparing their projection results. Ideally, in a second stage, the models could each be subjected to common simulation testing for an indication of which might be providing the more reliable results. NOTE THAT THE DATES OF THIS MEETING HAVE CHANGED.
2009
NAMMCO 18th Meeting of Council
The NAMMCO Council members will convene in Tromsø, Norway, 8-10 September 2009. The two NAMMCO Management Committees - for Cetaceans, and for Seals and Walruses - will also meet during this period to consider advice from the Scientific Committee and provide recommendations to Council. More details regarding arrangements will be available nearer the meeting date.

The NAMMCO Scientific Committee will meet in Iceland, 19-22 April 2009. The NAMMCO Scientific Committee Working Group on Marine Mammals Fisheries Interactions will meet in Iceland, 15-17 April 2009, to addressMARINE MAMMALS AND FISHERIES IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC: ESTIMATING CONSUMPTION AND MODELLING INTERACTIONS. The meeting will be attended by members of the Scientifc Commitee and invited experts including experts from non-member countries.

Meeting of the NAMMCO Assessment Working Group 22-23 March 2009
At its 17th meeting the NAMMCO Council asked the Scientific Committee to "conduct a full assessment, including long term sustainability of the catches, of common minke whales in the Central North Atlantic" (NAMMCO 2008).
Expert Working Group group on best practices in hunting and killing of seals
The NAMMCO Committee on Hunting Methods has scheduled an Expert Working Group meeting in Copenhagen 24-26 February 2009. This WG is a specialist one with participation by invitation only. Independent experts will participate from Canada, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway and Sweden, and will include member nations' representatives from the Hunting Committee. Observers are not permitted at this WG meeting.
NAMMCO-JCNB Scientific Working Group meeting
The NAMMCO Scientific Committee Working Group on the Population Status of the Narwhal and Beluga in the North Atlantic and the Canada/Greenland Joint Commission on Conservation and Management of Narwhal and Beluga Scientific Working Group will meet in Winnipeg, Canada, 17-20 February 2009.

The Role of Marine Mammals in the Ecosystem in the 21st Century

NAMMCO Seventeenth Council Meeting in 2008
The 17th Council Meeting of NAMMCO was held 2-4 September 2008 in Sisimiut, Greenland.
NAMMCO Fifteenth Scientific Committee Meeting 2008
The Annual plenary meeting of NAMMCO's Scientific Commitee took place on 11-14 April 2008 in Qeqertarsuaq (Godhavn) on Disko Island.
TNASS first Analysis Meeting
The TNASS and Abundance Estimate working groups met consecutively at the Greenlandic Representation at Nordatlantens Brygge, Copenhagen 7-8 April 2008. Participants included representatives from all NAMMCO countries, and also invited experts from the Russian Federation, Canada, USA and the UK as well as the IWC, who were involved in TNASS at the planning stage.
Finance and Administration Committee Meeting
The Finance and Administration Committee met in Copenhagen on the afternoon of Tuesday 12th February at the Faroese Representation, Nordatlantens Brygge in Copenhagen.
Committee on Hunting Methods and Committee on Inspection and Observation
The Committee on Hunting Methods met in Copenhagen on the 13th February at the Faroese Representation at the Nordatlantens Brygge. The meeting was followed immediately on the 14th by the Committee on Inspection and Observation. The reports from the meetings will be available to the public after the Council meeting in early September 2008, when they will be approved.

NAMMCO held an expert meeting on possible health effects of consumption of marine mammal oils in Copenhagen 3 October 2007.

The 16th Annual Meeting of NAMMCO Council was held 27th February - 1st March 2007 at the Rica Ishavshotel in Tromsø.
