Committee on Hunting Methods and Committee on Inspection and Observation

The Committee on Hunting Methods met in Copenhagen on the 13th February at the Faroese Representation at the Nordatlantens Brygge. The meeting was followed immediately on the 14th by the Committee on Inspection and Observation. The reports from the meetings will be available to the public after the Council meeting in early September 2008, when they will be approved.
However, topics discussed included the planning for a workshop on "Handling, processing and utilisation of hunted marine mammals", scheduled for late 2009. Other topics discussed included the report of the development and trial use of a new spinal lance in the pilot whale hunt in the Faroe Islands, hunting methods for bowhead whales, and a review of national legislation with respect to hunting of marine mammals.
